A $1000 Give Away with #TysonPickyEaters

One thing I swore when I'm a parent that I would not do, was to prepare a different meal for each member of my family. Shoot, even preparing a separate meal for ONE member of the family would be (and if I'm being honest! IS!) a nuisance.

I felt so grateful when our kids were little, and they would both eat anything, and everything. Well, except the baby food apricots. Our girl HATED those. Peas, green beans, carrots, hamburger, chicken, hot dogs, didn't matter what was on tap - our kids would eat it.

I'm a picky eater myself, so having kids who were willing to eat everything felt like I was winning. And then, one day, it happened. Suddenly, what she once ate, she would eat no more.

We are careful not to push the issue in our house ~ but I am also not a caterer either. We are a busy, tired family...and there is just no time for preparing multiple things for multiple people.

One thing that I find really helps, is to involve our picky eater in the process. Helping to choose what is for dinner, helping prepare the meal in some way, and sometimes, simply arranging food on a plate can make all the difference in this head game that goes on during mealtimes.

Have you seen theadorable plate that Tyson is giving away on Facebook?

Talk about making dinner time fun! Playing with food doesn't have to be a bad thing. Create a maze around the plate - protein, vegetable, protein, vegetable...and have your child eat their way through the maze! At our house, we don't see anything wrong with using dips and sauces to enhance the mealtime experience. A little ketchup, or ranch dressing...goes a long way!

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that there is no one way to do this parenting thing. What works for one, might not work for the other - and everything is not black and white. And the most important thing of all - is you just can't sweat it.
