He gave me a quick run down of the phone...explaining things that are important to a lot of people, like the fact that it's a 4G phone (that's approximately 10x faster than the 3G phones for those of you who are like me and saying...WHA?)...the Droid Charge also contains a mobile hot spot for up to TEN devices, and, the most important function to me...front and rear cameras!
YAY!
I wonder, am I the only one that uses my phone for 99% *stuff* and 1% actual phone calling?
Man, I hate talking on the phone...
Give me an email, a text, a picture, a facebook status or tweet any day...(and REMEMBER how I thought I could live without a smart phone! HA HA! Now I wonder how I ever lived without it!)
Those I can check at my convenience...but the ringing telephone at dinner time, or when I've JUST gotten the kids to bed...or when I'm about to watch a show with the hubs...man, I hate the telephone.
Obviously, the first thing I did was check out the camera on the Droid Charge -
IMPRESSIVE!
Sure, the actual picture SUBJECT isn't great...
apparently this is what happens when your tree roots are victim of a lightning strike...
Stay tuned for pictures of me taking this fella down ~ it's only 40 feet high - I should be able to tackle that without paying someone several hundred dollars to do it right?
Anyway -
The picture and video quality on the Droid Charge was amazing...I took a few videos of the kids & the color & clarity was striking...
I didn't think I'd notice the difference between my 3G Droid X and the 4G Droid Charge...
HA! I couldn't be more wrong!
Everything loaded so quickly on this phone. The battery needed to be charged every day, but show me a smart phone that doesn't...
I was able to maneuver this phone much quicker and much easier than the phone I use every single day...I was so much more comfortable with the Droid Charge than I am with the phone I've had for almost a year! Everything just seemed to 'make sense' on the Charge vs the phone that I battle with every single day.
Amazing how quickly technology changes these days...and how junky my Droid X feels when compared to the Droid Charge...
It'll be awhile before I upgrade my phone, but the hubs is still using a regular old cell phone...and by old, I mean old...very, very OLD.
I wish that Verizon didn't require a $30 data plan for each smart phone - I get it, I really do...
but it sure adds up fast...
We are a one smart phone family, and we have a hard time justifying the second data plan...
$30 a month, times XXX number of months, and it wouldn't be long until we could pick up a handy ipad 2, Motorola Xoom or hundreds of other things we didn't know we need (ed).
The great thing is, the longer we wait, the better the technology will be!
But if I had to decide right now...
There's no doubt in my mind my next phone would be the Droid Charge!
*** A huge thank you to Albert of Provident Partners and Verizon Wireless for the letting me use this phone. The words expressed here are of my own (obviously) layman's opinion. ***
